Male Physiotherapists at Bidaya Center: How We Handle Your Request From First Message to First Session
This page is not about physiotherapy in general. It describes how we at Bidaya Center handle a request for a male physiotherapist: what we ask, how the therapist is matched, what "subject to availability" really means, and what happens if the slot you want is not free.
How the home visit works
From your first WhatsApp message
By condition, area and time
The final choice is yours
What "subject to availability" means here
We say "subject to availability" because we do not want to promise anything before we have checked it. The therapist schedule changes daily with ongoing visits, areas and time slots. A male therapist may be free in the morning in one area and fully booked in the same area in the evening. So we never write "confirmed" until we have looked at the actual schedule and matched it to your case. That honesty can take a few extra minutes, but it prevents the worst outcome for a family: a confirmed appointment cancelled at the last moment.
The request, stage by stage
Stage one: your first message
We read your message for four facts: the type of problem, the patient’s age, the area and the possible times. The preference for a male therapist is written clearly into the request record so it does not get lost in a long chat. If something essential is missing, we ask one specific question rather than sending a long form.
Stage two: matching
Being male is not enough; the therapist also has to suit the condition. Rehabilitation after a stroke is different from an ACL reconstruction, and both differ from chronic back pain. We match the therapist’s experience to the condition first, then the schedule to your area and time. If the case needs medical reports before the visit, as after surgery, we request them at this stage.
Stage three: confirmation or options
When there is a match, you receive a written confirmation with the day, the approximate time and what to prepare. When there is not, you receive the available options rather than a refusal.
| Situation | What we offer | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Male therapist free, but at another time of day | Move the time and keep the therapist type you asked for | The patient’s day is flexible |
| Male therapist free in two or three days | A confirmed later appointment | Chronic, stable problems |
| No male therapist soon and the case needs an early start | Start with the available therapist and switch later, with your consent | Recent discharge or a recent stroke |
| A firm preference with no alternative acceptable | We wait with you and message as soon as a slot opens | When the preference is essential to the patient |
In every case we never move a request to an alternative without your explicit consent. If the preference belongs to the patient, we encourage the family to ask the patient directly before deciding on their behalf.
Send the condition, area and possible times, and write "I prefer a male physiotherapist". You will receive either a written confirmation or clear options to choose from.
Information that speeds up matching, and why we ask
| Information | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Diagnosis, or the problem in your own words | To choose a therapist experienced with that kind of case |
| Date of surgery, stroke or discharge | To understand the stage, its precautions and whether an early start is needed |
| Does the patient walk, and with what aid? | To estimate first-session length and hands-on support |
| Approximate height and weight | To plan safe transfers for bed-bound patients |
| Area, type of home and floor | To match a nearby therapist and avoid delays on arrival |
| Several possible times, not just one | Flexibility raises the chance of a suitable male therapist |
You do not need all of this before writing; an incomplete message is better than a delayed one. But every extra detail removes a round of questions and brings your appointment closer.
How our therapists behave inside a Kuwaiti home
A home is the family’s private space and the therapist is a guest. We agree in advance where the session will take place, ideally the patient’s room or a quiet space close to it. If women in the household prefer not to be present in that area, just tell us and it will be respected on arrival. Therapists only take photos or videos for a clinical purpose, with the consent of the patient or guardian, and they are not shared outside the treating team.
For the first session we ask that an adult family member is present. This is not about trust; teaching the family is part of treatment: how to help with standing, where to stand during walking practice, and which signs mean stop. For more on privacy in home care generally, see our guide to privacy and specialist options in home care.
Continuity: will it be the same therapist?
We aim to keep the same therapist from assessment to the end of the programme, because someone who knows the history notices small changes faster. Leave, schedule changes and other circumstances can interfere. If that happens we tell you in advance, hand the new therapist a summary of the case and plan so nothing restarts from zero, and keep your preference for a male therapist wherever possible.
An example from Salmiya: an office worker with back pain
A man in his forties working morning shifts and living in a Salmiya apartment develops sharp low back pain spreading into the thigh after lifting heavy boxes. His doctor has ruled out warning signs. He writes that he prefers a male therapist and is free after 6 pm. Matching finds a male therapist available in the area two days later, and another therapist free the next day at an earlier time. We present both. He chooses to wait two days, since the pain is easing and nothing calls for urgency.
The written confirmation arrives with a small note: leave floor space beside the bed and an exercise mat if available. At the first session the therapist assesses movement, gives gentle exercises and advice on sitting in the car and at the desk. This example illustrates how we present options; it is not a promise of a particular result.
Common mistakes that slow things down
- Giving one exact time only. "7 pm sharp" sharply reduces availability. Give a time window or more than one day.
- Leaving out the details. "Physio for my father" alone means several questions before matching can start.
- Not asking the patient. Sometimes the family requests a male therapist and the patient would have accepted anyone, or the reverse.
- Delaying a post-surgery start for the preference. In the first days after some operations, delay has a cost; discuss the best option with us.
- An imprecise address. Block, street and house number, or a map pin, shorten arrival time.
What we commit to, and what we do not do
- We answer every request with a confirmation or with options, never with silence.
- We do not change the therapist or time without telling you.
- We explain the plan in plain language and review it with you.
- We do not confirm a therapist before checking the schedule.
- We do not promise a number of sessions or an outcome before assessment.
- We do not publish general prices; you get a clear quote based on condition, area, session length and number of sessions.
After the programme ends
At the end of each phase the therapist reviews the written goals with the patient: is walking indoors safe, has pain eased enough to return to work, can the stairs be managed alone? From there one of three paths is suggested: a new phase with higher goals, fewer sessions with more self-directed exercise, or a written home programme with follow-up when needed. The review prevents stopping too early, before improvement is stable, and continuing sessions that are no longer needed.
Put it in the same message: the language the patient is comfortable in, shared accommodation, or a patient living alone. The clearer the picture, the faster and more accurate the arrangement.
Special situations we handle often: a patient who does not speak Arabic (tell us their preferred language and we take it into account where possible); a patient living alone (we agree on access and an emergency contact); shared accommodation (we agree on a quiet, private space); and families abroad arranging care for a parent in Kuwait, which can be coordinated entirely on WhatsApp with the number of someone at home on the day.
For the conditions where a male therapist is commonly requested and what sessions involve, read the main page for this service: male physiotherapist home visits in Kuwait. For female therapists, see how Bidaya arranges a female physiotherapist. For coverage, visit Salmiya and Hawalli and our service areas, and for the overall picture go to home physiotherapy. Back pain specifics are on spine and back pain therapy.
Call 112 or go to hospital immediately if
- Back pain with loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness around the saddle area.
- Leg weakness that is getting worse quickly.
- Chest pain, severe breathlessness or fainting.
- Stroke signs: facial droop, arm weakness, slurred speech.
- High fever with severe back pain that does not ease with rest.

Will the therapist change between sessions?
We try to keep the same therapist and tell you in advance if a change is unavoidable.

Yes, if it is safe, suitable and protects the patient’s privacy. We agree the space beforehand.
Do you accept requests for patients living alone?
Yes, after agreeing on access and an emergency contact number.
